Michael Brisco is a Republican candidate for Chaves County Commissioner in District 1, running to bring strong leadership, responsible spending, and community-focused solutions to Roswell and the surrounding areas. As a lifelong Chaves County resident with a background in public safety, agriculture, and corrections, Michael is committed to protecting our families, supporting local farmers and ranchers, and ensuring transparent, accountable county government.

He and his family have dedicated much of their lives to blue-collar work in agriculture, farming, corrections, and law enforcement. Michael has served in the volunteer fire service and professionally in state corrections, and today he serves as the Warden of the Chaves County Detention Center since 2023, where he is proud of the men and women who work there to keep our community safe.
Michael is a graduate of Leadership Roswell 2025 and currently serves on the alumni board. He is honored to serve on the county’s DWI Board and the Comprehensive Strategy Board for youth. His faith is central to who he is, and he believes we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength and perseverance.
Michael’s blended family includes his better half, Bernadette Aragon, who has served our commuity as an Educator for 20+ years. Five sons and one daughter who have followed in his footsteps to serve our community through Education, Correction, Law Enforcement and sales. All who have stregthened our community.

Michael recently visited the New Mexico Army National Guard Armory to speak with cadets from the New Mexico Youth Challenge Academy, sharing a powerful and honest message about the dangers of driving while intoxicated (DWI).
As someone who has spent years working directly with young people and families in Chaves County, Michael believes that prevention starts with education — meeting our youth where they are, giving them real-world insight, and helping them make decisions that keep them safe and on the right path.
